Could a 6-Month pill delay prostate cancer treatment?
NCT ID NCT03088124
First seen Mar 29, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looked at whether taking a hormone-blocking pill (apalutamide) for 6 months could help men with low-risk prostate cancer delay the need for more aggressive treatments like surgery or radiation. About 90 men on active surveillance were randomly assigned to receive the drug or not. The goal was to see if the drug could slow cancer progression and push back the time when local treatment becomes necessary.
