New combo procedure aims to fix aortic tears for good
NCT ID NCT07198295
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tests a new way to treat a serious tear in the main artery (type B aortic dissection). The standard procedure uses a stent-graft to close the main tear, but blood can still leak through smaller tears, causing the artery to widen and need more procedures. This study adds special plugs to block those leaks. About 72 people will get this combined procedure and be followed for 12 months to see if the artery heals better and if there are fewer serious complications.
