New stent technique could offer safer fix for deadly aortic bulges

NCT ID NCT06501872

First seen Mar 27, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests a stent that doctors modify by hand to treat large bulges in the aorta (the body's main artery). The goal is to see if this less invasive approach is as safe and effective as traditional open surgery. About 80 people aged 50 and older with aneurysms in the chest and belly area will take part. Researchers will track survival, major complications, and how well the stent works over one year.
