Mind over movement: can calming the mind unfreeze Parkinson's walkers?
NCT ID NCT06302309
Summary
This study tested whether personalized mental strategies could help reduce episodes of 'freezing of gait'—a sudden inability to step—in people with Parkinson's disease, particularly when triggered by anxiety or stress. Forty-one participants who experienced daily freezing related to anxiety received four coaching sessions to learn tailored techniques for managing their mental state during walking. Researchers measured changes in freezing time during home walking tests and participants' self-reported anxiety impact.
