Mind over movement: new therapy targets anxiety to unfreeze Parkinson's walkers
NCT ID NCT06302309
Summary
This study tested whether personalized mental strategies could help reduce walking freezes in people with Parkinson's disease, especially when those freezes are triggered by anxiety or stress. Forty-one participants who experienced daily anxiety-related freezing of gait received four coaching sessions to learn how to manage their mental state during walking. Researchers measured if this tailored approach reduced the time spent frozen and lessened the impact of anxiety on their movement.
