Bladder botox breakthrough: antibiotics may slash infection risk

NCT ID NCT04791579

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study looks at whether taking antibiotics right after getting Botox injections in the bladder can lower the chance of getting a urinary tract infection (UTI). People with neurogenic overactive bladder often get Botox to help control symptoms, but UTIs are a common side effect. The trial will compare antibiotics to a placebo in 160 adults to see if this simple step reduces infections and improves safety.
