Bladder botox infection risk: do antibiotics help?

NCT ID NCT04791579

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looks at whether taking antibiotics after getting Botox injections in the bladder can lower the chance of getting a urinary tract infection (UTI). People with neurogenic overactive bladder (caused by conditions like multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injury) often get UTIs after this procedure. The study will give half the participants antibiotics and the other half a placebo to see if the antibiotics help. The goal is to improve safety and reduce unnecessary antibiotic use.
