First seen Nov 11, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looked at how a common antibiotic (metronidazole) spreads into the bowel tissue of healthy infants during planned intestinal surgery. Researchers gave the antibiotic before surgery and took small blood samples to measure its levels. The goal was to learn the best dose to prevent infections after surgery. Twenty-one infants under 2 years old took part.
