Summary
This study looked at how a common antibiotic, metronidazole, spreads into the bowel tissue of healthy infants having intestinal surgery. Researchers gave the antibiotic before surgery and took small blood samples to measure its levels. The goal was to learn the best dose to prevent infections in the bowel wall. The study involved 21 infants up to 2 years old.
