Doctors test which antibiotic combo spares kidneys
NCT ID NCT06954129
Summary
This study aims to find out if two common antibiotic combinations given to hospitalized patients with infections have different risks of causing kidney injury. Researchers will compare vancomycin with piperacillin-tazobactam against vancomycin with cefepime in 750 adults. They will use newer, more sensitive tests to measure kidney health, hoping to determine which treatment is safer.
