Could 3 days of antibiotics be as good as 7 before prostate surgery?

NCT ID NCT07209150

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looks at whether taking antibiotics for 3 days before prostate surgery works as well as the usual 7 days to prevent infections. Men who have a urinary catheter and are scheduled for a specific type of prostate surgery (HoLEP) will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. The goal is to see if a shorter course can reduce side effects and still keep patients safe from infections like urinary tract infections or sepsis.
