New bone implant aims to stop dangerous fracture infections

Summary
This study is testing a new method to prevent serious infections after severe open leg fractures. Researchers are comparing the standard surgical treatment to the same surgery plus a small antibiotic pellet placed inside the bone. They will follow about 500 adult patients with severe fractures for one year to see which group has fewer infections and better recovery.
