New bone implant aims to stop dangerous fracture infections
NCT ID NCT05766670
Summary
This study is testing if placing a slow-release antibiotic pellet inside the bone during surgery is better at preventing serious infections after a severe open leg fracture. It will compare this new approach to the current standard treatment in about 500 adults with these injuries. Researchers will track participants for a year to see which group has fewer infections and better healing outcomes.
