New blood-dilution method may cut transfusions in ovarian cancer surgery

Summary
This study tests a technique called acute normovolemic hemodilution (ANH) during ovarian cancer surgery. Before surgery, some blood is removed and replaced with fluids, then returned later. The goal is to see if this reduces the need for donor blood transfusions. About 86 adults with advanced ovarian cancer will take part.
