Surgery's hidden toll: study probes why patients lose their voice

NCT ID NCT07359586

Summary

This study looks back at medical records to understand how often and why patients develop voice problems or throat injuries after having a breathing tube placed during surgery. Researchers will analyze data from 1,200 patients who had surgery for conditions like cancer and later needed an ear, nose, and throat specialist for hoarseness or throat pain. The goal is to find out which factors increase the risk of these injuries to help doctors prevent them in the future.
