First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study looks at two types of anesthesia—conscious sedation and general anesthesia—used during painless stomach exams (gastroscopy) in frail patients aged 65 and older. The goal is to see which method leads to fewer heart-related problems like irregular heartbeat, blood pressure swings, or serious events like heart attack. About 226 participants will be monitored to find the safer option for this vulnerable group.
