Anesthesia choice may cut Post-Surgery confusion in elderly diabetics

NCT ID NCT06788743

Summary

This study aims to find out if one common anesthesia drug (propofol) works better than another (sevoflurane) at preventing confusion and delirium after surgery in older patients with diabetes. Researchers will enroll 450 diabetic patients aged 60+ undergoing major non-heart surgery and randomly assign them to receive one of the two drugs during their operation. The main goal is to see which drug leads to fewer cases of post-surgery confusion, potentially improving recovery and hospital stays.
