New PET scan tracks amyloid in organs with high repeatability

NCT ID NCT05235269

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tested a new radioactive tracer called 124I AT-01 to see how well it can measure amyloid protein buildup in organs like the heart, kidneys, liver, and spleen using PET/CT scans. Thirty-three adults with systemic amyloidosis (AL or ATTR type) were scanned twice, six weeks apart, to check if the results were consistent. The goal was to improve how doctors track amyloid deposits without directly treating the disease.
