Scientists map the eye to unlock secrets of fading night vision

This study aimed to understand the link between poor night vision and early age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of vision loss in older adults. Researchers followed 556 participants, including older adults with and without early AMD and a younger comparison group, for three years. They used detailed eye scans and vision tests to create a map of how changes in the eye's structure relate to difficulties seeing in the dark, hoping to find better targets for future treatments.
