Blood platelets may hold key to faster ALS diagnosis

NCT ID NCT07479017

First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This pilot study is looking for specific markers in blood platelets that could help doctors diagnose ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) more accurately and quickly. Researchers will compare 60 participants—30 with early ALS and 30 with other motor neuron diseases—to find unique platelet signals. The goal is to develop a routine test that tells ALS apart from similar conditions, speeding up diagnosis and care.
