New device aims to suck blood clots from lungs, potentially saving lives

Summary
This study tests a device called AlphaVac that is used to remove blood clots from the lungs in people with acute pulmonary embolism (a sudden blockage in the lung artery). About 256 adults with confirmed clots and signs of heart strain will be enrolled. The goal is to see if the procedure safely reduces clot burden and improves heart function within 48 hours, with follow-up for up to 12 months.
