New clot-sucking device aims to save lungs and lives

Summary

This study tests a device that suctions blood clots out of the lungs in people with a severe type of pulmonary embolism (a blockage in the lung artery). About 256 adults with symptoms for up to 14 days will be enrolled. The goal is to see if the procedure safely reduces clot burden and improves heart function within 48 hours, with follow-up for one year.
