First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study tests a gentle, non-invasive brain stimulation technique called alpha tACS in 5 adults who have been in a minimally conscious or vegetative state for 3-12 months after a traumatic brain injury. The goal is to see if repeated sessions can improve their level of awareness by boosting key brain rhythms. Each person will be their own control, with periods of stimulation and no stimulation over 3 months.
