ER program could free kids from unnecessary antibiotic restrictions

NCT ID NCT06823154

Summary

This study tests a program to safely remove incorrect antibiotic allergy labels from children's medical records. Many children are mistakenly labeled as allergic to common antibiotics like amoxicillin, often due to rashes that weren't true allergies. In the emergency department, researchers will identify low-risk children and give them a small test dose of the antibiotic to see if they can safely tolerate it, potentially removing unnecessary allergy restrictions.
