Rare Allergy's hidden toll: study aims to quantify suffering
NCT ID NCT07391917
First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
Human seminal plasma allergy is a rare condition causing pain and inflammation after unprotected sex, but its impact on quality of life is poorly understood. This study will enroll 20 women treated at Angers University Hospital to compare standard quality-of-life questionnaires and a simple rating question. The goal is to describe how this allergy affects physical, mental, and sexual health, and to determine if a disease-specific questionnaire is needed.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could show how much this rare allergy affects daily life and sexual health, and support the creation of a dedicated quality-of-life questionnaire.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage observational study with only 20 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It does not test a treatment, so no direct health benefit is expected.
