Texts to beat booze: new hope for head and neck cancer survivors

NCT ID NCT05570851

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 36 times

Summary

This study tested whether personalized text messages can help head and neck cancer survivors stop drinking alcohol. Drinking raises the risk of cancer coming back, so quitting is important. Researchers enrolled 126 survivors and compared those who got tailored texts to those who only received alcohol feedback. The goal was to see if the text approach was acceptable and could lead to more people quitting.
