First seen Mar 15, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study aims to find out how common alcohol and cannabis use is among pregnant women in Slovenia. Researchers will test newborn meconium (first stool) for signs of alcohol and drugs, and also ask mothers about their habits. For samples that test positive, they will analyze the baby's gut bacteria to see if it differs from babies not exposed. About 600 mothers and newborns will take part.
