Omega-3 trial targets brain health in High-Risk seniors

NCT ID NCT07392723

First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 26, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tests whether a natural omega-3 supplement (alpha-linolenic acid, or ALA) can prevent memory decline in older adults with mild cognitive impairment who carry the APOE4 gene, a major risk factor for Alzheimer's disease. The supplement aims to improve brain blood vessel health and strengthen the blood-brain barrier. Twenty participants will receive either ALA or a placebo for 6 months, and researchers will measure changes in memory, thinking, and brain scans.
