AI steps in: could a computer read your ultrasound better than a doctor?

NCT ID NCT07299318

Summary

This study aims to develop and test a computer program (a deep learning model) that analyzes neck ultrasound images and reports to predict whether papillary thyroid cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes. It will involve 3,200 adults who have had surgery for this cancer, comparing the AI's predictions to the actual results from lab tests on the removed tissue. The goal is to create a more accurate tool to help doctors plan the best treatment by better understanding the cancer's stage before surgery.
