AI stethoscope could spot hidden heart disease in minutes
NCT ID NCT07147725
First seen Nov 01, 2025
Summary
This study will test whether an AI-powered smart stethoscope can accurately detect pulmonary hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases. Researchers will enroll 1,000 adults already scheduled for routine echocardiography. Each participant will have a short, non-invasive recording with the stethoscope, and the AI's findings will be compared to the standard ultrasound results.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
AI-powered smart stethoscope (device)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple, non-invasive way to detect pulmonary hypertension and other heart conditions earlier, using just a stethoscope and AI.
What could go wrong
This is an early validation study, not a treatment trial. The AI may not perform as well in real-world settings as in lab tests, and it will need further studies before it can be used in clinics.
Conditions
