First seen Apr 11, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tests whether a conversational AI that collects medical history can make people with depression feel more understood than standard care. About 130 adults with moderate to severe major depression will try both the AI and usual methods over 4 months. The goal is to see if the AI improves how patients perceive empathy from their healthcare team.
