Wrist wearables could replace chest patches for heart monitoring
NCT ID NCT07684807
First seen Jul 06, 2026 · Last updated Jul 07, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study collects data from 50 healthy adults who wear both a wrist device and a chest ECG patch for 24 hours. The goal is to train artificial intelligence to reconstruct detailed heart signals—especially the QT interval—from the wrist's light-based pulse readings. If the AI works, it could allow continuous heart monitoring from a simple wristband.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could enable continuous heart monitoring from a wrist-worn device without needing a chest patch, making it easier to detect heart rhythm problems.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage data collection study. The AI may not work well enough for clinical use, and results from healthy volunteers may not apply to people with heart conditions.
