First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looks at how often antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) and other psychoactive medications are prescribed in US nursing homes, especially for people with dementia, and how this changed around the COVID-19 pandemic. Researchers will analyze data from over 22 million nursing home residents to see if these drugs are being used more despite not being tracked by Medicare. The goal is to understand prescribing patterns and any related health outcomes.
