Mountain air mimicry: could Low-Oxygen therapy spark brain repair after stroke?

NCT ID NCT04019522

First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tested whether short, controlled sessions of breathing low-oxygen air (like being on a tall mountain) is safe for people who had a stroke. Sixteen stroke survivors took part to see if this therapy might help the brain rewire and improve movement. The main goal was to check for side effects, not to prove it works, so results will guide future research.
