Not open to general applications. Only people the study team invites can take part.
Paused
Paused for now. It may or may not start again.
Ongoing
Running, but no longer taking on new participants.
Completed
The trial has finished. Results may not be published yet.
Stopped early
Stopped early, before it reached the end. That can be for many reasons, including safety.
Cancelled
Cancelled before anyone took part.

Expanded access (not trials)

Expanded access
Not a trial. This treatment can be requested outside a study, case by case, for people who qualify.
Expanded access (paused)
Not a trial. The treatment can normally be requested outside a study, but is unavailable right now.
Expanded access (ended)
Not a trial. The treatment could once be requested outside a study, but no longer can.
Approved
The treatment has been approved, so it is available normally rather than through this programme.

Summary

Researchers at the University of Avignon are studying how different patterns of physical activity and sitting time relate to the thickness of the carotid artery in adolescents with obesity. The carotid intima-media thickness, measured by ultrasound, serves as an early marker of future heart risk. About 108 teens aged 11 to 18 with obesity take part. The team measures their activity and sedentary habits, fitness, body composition, and artery structure to see which behaviors link to healthier blood vessels.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If the study finds links, it could shape activity guidance for teens with obesity and point to artery thickness as an early warning sign of heart risk.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, so it can show associations but not prove that activity changes artery thickness. Results may not apply to other age groups or settings.

Exclusion Criteria: * The adolescent has a contraindication to physical activity (joint, cardiac, or other). * The adolescent is participating in another study. * The adolescent is within an exclusion period determined by a previous study. * The parent(s) or legal guardian(s) or the adolescent refuses to sign the parental consent or assent form, respectively. * It is not possible to provide the adolescent or the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) with the required information for informed consent.
