First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study tested whether doing moderate aerobic exercise right before a therapy session (called ActiveCBT) helps people with major depression get more out of their treatment compared to resting before therapy (CalmCBT). Forty adults with depression took part in 8 weekly therapy sessions. The goal was to see if exercise boosts the connection with the therapist and encourages more active coping behaviors, which are key to overcoming depression.
