New study aims to speed up discharge after hysterectomy
NCT ID NCT04487600
First seen Dec 12, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tested whether an active voiding trial (where the bladder is filled and then the patient tries to urinate) helps patients leave the hospital sooner after a same-day hysterectomy compared to a passive trial (waiting to urinate naturally). 130 women undergoing laparoscopic hysterectomy for cancer or benign conditions took part. The goal was to see if the active method reduces time spent in recovery.
