Brain scans reveal how therapy helps smokers with schizophrenia kick the habit

Summary

This study looks at whether a type of talking therapy called acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) can help people with schizophrenia stop smoking and reduce their psychotic symptoms. About 90 adults with schizophrenia who smoke will take part. Researchers will use brain scans (fMRI) to see if the therapy changes how the brain responds to cravings and improves mental health over six months.
