First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This phase 2 study tests whether combining the drug acalabrutinib with a CAR T-cell therapy called lisocabtagene maraleucel (liso-cel) can help people with aggressive B-cell lymphoma that has come back or not responded to treatment. About 28 adults will receive the combination. The main goal is to see how many patients achieve a complete response (no signs of cancer).

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

acalabrutinib (Calquence) and lisocabtagene maraleucel (Breyanzi, a CAR T-cell therapy)

What this could lead to

If successful, this combination could offer a new treatment option for people with aggressive B-cell lymphoma that has not responded to standard therapies.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase (phase 2) study with only 28 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. CAR T-cell therapy can cause serious side effects like cytokine release syndrome and neurological problems.
