Weekly shot may halt arthritis progression in kids

NCT ID NCT03841357

First seen Jan 23, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tested whether a weekly injection of abatacept, given for 24 weeks, could prevent juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) from spreading to more joints or causing eye inflammation. 121 children with mild JIA (affecting 4 or fewer joints) took part. The goal was to see if the drug, added to usual care, could keep the disease from becoming more severe over 18 months.
