New PET scan could outshine MRI for prostate cancer detection

NCT ID NCT07209878

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study aims to see if a special PET scan (68Ga-PSMA-11) is better than standard MRI at finding prostate tumors in men who have just been diagnosed and haven't had treatment yet. About 100 participants will get both scans before their prostate removal surgery, and the results will be checked against the actual tissue. The goal is to improve how doctors detect and map prostate cancer.
