New PET scan could outshine MRI for prostate cancer detection

NCT ID NCT07209878

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study aims to see if a special PET scan (68Ga-PSMA-11) is better than standard MRI at finding prostate tumors in people who have just been diagnosed and haven't started treatment. About 100 participants will receive both scans before surgery, and the results will be checked against the removed prostate tissue. The goal is to improve how doctors detect and plan treatment for prostate cancer.
