New PET scan agent could revolutionize detection of inflammatory diseases

NCT ID NCT06275477

First seen Mar 14, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study is testing a new imaging agent called 68Ga-FAPI46 to see if it can improve how doctors detect and monitor chronic inflammatory and fibrotic diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, liver fibrosis, and lupus. About 390 adults with these conditions will receive a PET/CT scan using this agent. The goal is to see if this method provides clearer images of inflammation and scarring, which could help with earlier diagnosis and better tracking of disease over time.
