New scan could spare breast cancer patients unnecessary surgery

NCT ID NCT06559371

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a special PET scan (68Ga-FAPI PET/CT) can accurately tell if breast cancer has spread to lymph nodes after chemotherapy. About 150 women with lymph node-positive breast cancer will get this scan before surgery. If it works well, it might help doctors decide who needs more treatment and who doesn't.
