Breathing in a special gas could reveal hidden lung damage

NCT ID NCT06104228

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study is testing whether a special MRI using 129 xenon gas can help doctors see and track changes in the lungs of people with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), a serious condition where blood vessels in the lungs narrow. About 20 adults with PAH will have MRI scans along with other tests like blood work and a 6-minute walk, then repeat them after 12 months. The goal is to see if this imaging method can detect disease progression and response to treatment better than current tools.
