Bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome
MONDO:0015265A lung disorder that is mainly associated with chronic allograft dysfunction after lung transplantation and that is characterized by inflammation and fibrosis of bronchiolar walls that reduce the diameter of the bronchioles and result in progressive and irreversible airflow obstruction.
Also known as: BOOP, constrictive bronchiolitis, organised pneumonia, organized pneumonia, bronchiolitis obliterans with obstructive pulmonary disease, BO, bronchiolitis exudativa, bronchiolitis obliterans

New hope for lung scarring after transplant: belumosudil trial launches
Disease control Recruiting nowThis phase 2 trial tests whether the drug belumosudil can help people who develop bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BOS), a type of lung scarring, after a stem cell transplant. The study will enroll 45 participants with new or early-stage BOS. Participants will take belumosudil …

Could stem cells repair damaged airways in kids?
Disease control Recruiting nowThis early-phase study tests whether airway basal stem cells can safely help children with bronchiolitis obliterans, a chronic lung disease that narrows airways. About 12 children aged 28 days to 18 years will receive the cells via bronchoscopy. Researchers will check for improve…

A new breathing test may catch a deadly transplant complication earlier than ever
Diagnosis Recruiting nowThis study tests whether a non-invasive breathing test called Forced Oscillation Technique (FOT) can detect bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BOS) — a serious lung condition — earlier than standard tests in people who have received a bone marrow transplant. Researchers will comp…
