New study tests which zirconia implant design keeps your jawbone healthier
NCT ID NCT06012071
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two designs of zirconia dental implants—tissue-level and bone-level—for replacing a single missing premolar. Twenty-four adults with good oral health will receive one of the two implant types. Researchers will measure bone loss, gum health, and implant stability over 1, 3, and 5 years to see which design performs better.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Zirconia dental implants
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help dentists choose the best type of zirconia implant for long-term tooth replacement with less bone loss.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 24 people, so results may not apply to everyone. Implants can fail or cause gum problems, and long-term data is still being collected.
