Could a simple zinc pill help control a rare brain disorder?

NCT ID NCT06412653

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether taking a daily zinc supplement for six months is safe and practical for people with GNAO1 disorders, a rare genetic condition that causes movement problems, seizures, and developmental delays. Researchers enrolled 13 participants, aged 6 months to 30 years, to see if the treatment was manageable and to check for any side effects. They also looked for potential changes in symptoms like involuntary movements, seizure frequency, sleep, behavior, and quality of life.
