New cocktail targets brain lymphoma: early trial launches

NCT ID NCT06730542

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This early-stage trial tests whether adding the targeted drug zanubrutinib to a standard chemotherapy regimen (Pola-R-CHP plus high-dose methotrexate) is safe for people with large B-cell lymphoma that has spread to the central nervous system (brain or spinal cord). About 20 adults will take part. The main goal is to check for serious side effects; researchers will also watch whether tumors shrink.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Zanubrutinib (a targeted cancer drug taken as capsules) combined with standard chemotherapy drugs (Polatuzumab Vedotin, Rituximab, Cyclophosphamide, and high-dose Methotrexate)

What this could lead to

If this combination is safe and effective, it could offer a new treatment option for patients with lymphoma that has spread to the brain or spinal cord.

What could go wrong

This is a very early (Phase 1) trial with only 20 people, so the main goal is safety, not proof of benefit. The drug combination may cause serious side effects, and it is not yet known if it will improve outcomes.
