New imaging test aims to predict chemotherapy outcomes in rare brain cancer
NCT ID NCT05222269
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether a special PET scan using a tracer called 68Ga-PentixaFor could predict how well patients with central nervous system lymphoma respond to chemotherapy. The plan was to scan patients before, during, and after treatment and see if the scan results matched their long-term outcomes. However, the trial was stopped early after enrolling only one person, so we do not have enough information to know if this approach works.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
68Ga-PentixaFor (a radioactive tracer for PET imaging)
What this could lead to
If successful, this imaging method could help doctors predict which patients will respond to chemotherapy, potentially guiding more personalized treatment.
What could go wrong
The trial was terminated after enrolling only 1 participant, so no meaningful conclusions can be drawn. It is unclear if the approach works or is practical.
